Library

How long does it take to get a library card?

Our librarian will be able to supply you with a new library card the same day you apply.

How long can I check out a book for?

4 week checkout for books, new books have a 14 day loan period. 1 week checkout on movies. 

Does the library have internet?

Absolutely! The library offers Wi-fi as well as several computers for public use. 

Are any programs offered?

During the year the Hartshorne Public Library offers several fun and education programs as well as a wonderful children's program each summer. For more information about these programs, please contact the library directly. 

City Hall

What hours is City Hall open?

City Hall is open from 7:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.,daily

Water billing is open from 7:00 - 3:00 p.m.

Citizens can use the outside drop box located next to the front door for any payments made after hours, weekends or holidays. Absolutely NO CASH is accepted.

City Hall is closed on Saturday and Sunday and observed holdiays.

How can I contact the animal control officer?

What day is trash pick up?

Trash is picked up for residents is every Monday.

We suggest that you have your poly-cart pulled out on Sunday night to ensure that it is picked up properly. If you have an issue with trash pick up you can always call or email us and we will take care of your concern promptly and to the best of our ability. 

Can I use cash to pay a citation or my water bill?

Beginning July 1st, 2018 no cash will be allowed on any payments. Credit cards, debit cards, money orders and cashier checks will be allowed. 

What forms of payment can I use at City Hall?

When paying a water bill you pay by money order, cashiers check, credit or debit card or a personal check.

When paying a citation you can pay by money order, cashiers check, credit or debit card. 

Ordinances

May I burn trash and leaves inside the city limits?

No, not at the current time due to dry conditions in our county.  Please contact city hall if you have any questions.

Court

When is my court date?

Please refer to the bottom of your ticket and your court date will be listed there, If you are still unsure, please contact City Hall at 918-297-2544.

Can I make payment arrangements on my ticket?

You must make your initial court appearance and the judge will set up payment arrangments. Please note that the judge will decide the amount and if payment arrangements will be an option. 

How can I dispute or get my ticket dropped?

Your initial court appearance is the opportunity for this. Failure to make your court appearance could result in full payment, immediate payment require, additional fines being added, a warrant for your arrest, license suspension, etc. 

How should I dress for court?

Please dress appropriately. No hats are allowed, cell phones are asked to be silenced. 

What time is court?

We begin court at 4 p.m. at the date that will be listed on your ticket. If for any reason a court date needs to be changed or postponed by the City, we will contact you. 

How much is my ticket?

How can I pay my fine?

You can pay your fine online on this website (see homepage) or in person at City Hall in the form of a money order, cashiers check, credit or debit card. 

Court Calendar & Dress Code

Can I reschedule my court date?

The date on your ticket is your court date. The judge is only on site for court once a month and we try not to reschedule court dates unless absolutely necessary. 

Aw, rats! I missed my court date! What now?

Failure to make your scheduled court date is a "Failure to Appear". This adds on an additional amount to your initial ticket cost. 

Can I bring my children to court with me?

If at all possible, this is not recommended. Court can sometimes last a while and we do try to keep the room quiet. 

Application Process

I am interested in applying for a job with the City of Hartshorne, what do I do?

You will need to fill out an application if available.  Please ensure you meet the qualifications for the position you wish to be considered for.  If you would like to include a resume, simply attach it to the completed application. You may mail or drop off the application at City Hall.  Interviews will be scheduled accordingly.

Does the City of Hartshorne hire part time employees?

When are the garbage collection days for my street?

Please refer to the monthly schedule. Remember, observed holidays will alter the normal routine.

Water Utilities

How could I have used this much water?

You may not have - the numbers on your meter may have been transposed or hard to read. You could possibly have a leaky toilet or faucet that's difficult to detect. Just call the office and we'll work with you to solve the problem.

My bill is past due can I get an extension?

Please contact our office and speak to someone in the billing department for more information pertaining to this. 

What do I do if I am experiencing low pressure?

Check your meter and the surrounding area for possible leaks. Next, call our office and report low pressure for your area.

Why do I have a previous balance when I know I sent in my payment?

We may have received it after the due date or we may not have received it at all. Call our office and we will help you solve the problem.

Why is my water discolored?

A repair could have been completed recently allowing air to enter the line, causing the milky look.
